Shrubs 1–3 m tall; branches densely or sparsely hirtellous and glandular-granulose when young, glabrescent, very rarely glabrous.
Leaves membranous, lanceolate, ovate, elliptic, or obovate, 5–11 cm long, 2.7–5 cm wide, sparsely hirtellous, especially along midrib when young, glabrous when mature, apex acuminate or acute, base acute, obtuse or nearly rounded, margins undulate, serrulate, or serrate, lateral veins 6–9 pairs; petioles 7–13 mm long, densely or sparsely hirtellous, glabrescent.
Inflorescences paniculate or rarely racemose, axillary, 2–10 cm long, densely or sparsely hirtellous; bracteoles subulate, lanceolate or ovate. Flowers white; calyx lobes broadly ovate, punctate-lineate, hirtellous or glabrous outside, margin ciliate; corolla lobes broadly ovate or ovate, about as long as tube, punctate-lineate, margin minutely erose or nearly entire; stamens included, anthers oblong, shorter than filament; stigma slightly lobed.
Fruit globose.

分布

台灣 : roadsides, forests and forest edges from low elevations to 1,500 m throughout the island.
世界 : Indochina, China and the Ryukyus.
